Dr Walker trained in Medicine at University of Oxford and University College London, UK, and completed postgraduate clinical training in Tropical and General Internal Medicine, in London, Uganda and Sydney. As a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship (2011-2015) at University of Cape Town and Imperial College London, she investigated mechanisms of immunopathology in HIV-TB co-infection, and was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London, in May 2016. Subsequently, she held an NIHR Academic Clinical Lectureship at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2016-2019) and joined LSTM in 2019. Her research interests are understanding immunopathology of HIV-TB co-infection, translating pathophysiological insights into interventions for TB and control of emerging infections (Ebola, SARS CoV-2), with recent funding from Director’s Catalyst Fund at LSTM and CEIDR/HPRU Covid-19 Strategic Research Fund.
